Customising 6″ GI Joe Classified figures with good articulation and detail, such as Snake Eyes and Breaker, is an ideal starter project.
Are you interested in doing a simple repaint, a part swap, or a full custom with sculpting and modifications?
Here are some thoughts and suggestions:
Are you thinking of repainting?
You can look at adding some weathering effects to the figures, I like using dry brushing, this is a simple but effective way to add texture to the figures.
You can also look at customised visors, adding a little red or green tint will give a unique look.
In addition, you can apply matte black or camouflage patterns to the suit for a more tactical aesthetic.
What about weapons & gear upgrades?
Swap out or add 3D-printed weapons (check eBay or Etsy for custom guns and swords). Attach real fabric straps or a tactical sling to his rifle.
Try repainting the vest with a more accurate military green or camo pattern; this will give it a more realistic appearance. Furthermore, you may want to look at adding some extra pouches or holsters from other figures or 3D-printed accessories.
If you’re confident in your skills or fancy pushing yourself a little, try using fine-tip paint markers to add details to logos, straps, and buttons.
After heating are the pose enhancements?
If the joints feel loose after heating the figures, you can apply a small amount of clear nail polish or floor polish to tighten them. You may want to experiment with alternate hands for a better grip with some accessories.
Can I alter Breakers helmet?
You could look at modifying the visor with a clear green or blue tint for a high-tech HUD look. Or perhaps look at attaching a small antenna or comms device to the side. In addition, you may want to look at adding some minor battle damage with scratches and scuffs using silver dry brushing.
