Exploring the World of Customising Action Figures
Basics of Action Figure Customization
1. Planning Your Custom Figure
- Decide on a theme or character.
- Gather reference images.
- Choose a base figure that has the right proportions and articulation.
2. Disassembling the Figure
- Use warm water or a hairdryer to soften joints for easy removal.
- Carefully pry apart torso sections if needed.
3. Sculpting & Modifications
- Use epoxy putty (like Green Stuff or Aves Apoxie Sculpt) for new details.
- Sand down unwanted parts with fine-grit sandpaper.
- Cut and reposition limbs for dynamic poses.
4. Painting & Detailing
- Use acrylic paints (Citadel, Vallejo, or Tamiya work great).
- Apply primer for better paint adhesion.
- Use thin layers to avoid clogging details.
- Dry brushing and washes can add depth and realism.
5. Reassembling & Finishing
- Seal paint with a matte, gloss, or satin varnish.
- Reattach parts carefully using friction or glue where needed.
- Add accessories like custom weapons, capes, or decals.
