Firstly, I would like to say thank you Hasbro, this characterised version of the Han Solo action figure was the first vintage figure I purchased back in 1980 from Zodiac Toy store. Like then, I was pretty excited when I purchased him, some of these Star Wars characters from the original trilogy are characters that have stuck with us for all of our lives. This particular Han Solo 6 inch Bespin Han Solo action figure comes in a case assortment with the Fleet Rebel Trooper and the much anticipated Tobias Beckett action figure. Hasbro are still doing things that much of us collectors would prefer that didn’t but at least they’re now packaging a decent cast of characters rather than filling with previous released figures. This Bespin Han Solo action figure is aone that myself and I imagine many fans and collectors of the 6” Black Series figures have waited far too long for. This Han Solo action figure comes complete with 28 points of articulation, his right hand is moulded to hold the DL-44 blaster, which it does perfectly. Accompanying he DL-44 is Han’s trademark holster. The paint job is pretty good with the new digital printing facial technology is face looks awesome. Overall this figure does not disappoint but I may well be biased as I do think this should have been a much sooner released figure in this toy line but hey, he is here now and in the words of Han himself…“You like me because I’m a scoundrel. There aren’t enough scoundrels in your life.”
There is also a SDCC exclusive version of Han Solo (AKA Exogorth Escape Han Solo). This version has a alternative paint job and comes complete Chewie’s hydrospanner, interchangeable left hand and a breathing mask feature in the scene when Han and Chewbacca are removing the Mynocks from the Falcon. This version is around £50 in the UK where the standard version retails at around £20.
The Empire Strikes Back has always been my personal favourite film for the Star Wars Saga and Hasbro are now making a great selection from this film which I am more than happy about but I do know that a lot of fans are not happy about Hasbro not concentrating on other characters from the saga. To finish this review I think that this Star Wars Episode V Bespin Han Solo action figure has done more than just completed a much needed figure in this line but it has also brought back so many fantastic memories from my childhood and once again brought a little bit of happiness to my Star Wars addiction and a new scene to my display. “Laugh it up, fuzzball!”
